PITCH SHIFTER INFORMATION SHEET SPRING '95 ========================================== INTRO ----- Greetings degenerates. Well here it is, the first PSI info-sheet of '95. We hope you all survived the once a year shallow trading of useless con- sumer products known as Christmas. Let's see if we can put all this religious bullshit behind us and make '95 an interesting year, thanks for all your support in '94. If things go to plan there will be an info-sheet every quarter for those of you who write in..........read on. PITCH #4 -------- The band have started work on their next full length LP already. It should be at least 12 brand new tracks of previously unreleased stuff, (as yet there is no working title). The LP will come out on Earache Records, hopefully in the Autumn. We will update in next quarter's info-sheet. IT'S WAR -------- For those of you who don't know, Pitch Shifter have a 7 song re-mix mini-LP soon to be released. The mini has 4 Pitch Shifter re-mixes of songs from our 'DESENSITIZED' LP, along with one THERAPY? re-mix, one GUNSHOT re-mix and one BIOHAZARD re-mix. The release is entitled 'THE RE-MIX WAR' and it's a total musical experiment so don't expect 7 regurgitated album fillers. 'THE RE-MIX WAR' track listing: 1/ 'TRIAD' re-mixed by PITCH SHIFTER 2/ 'DIABLE' re-mixed by THERAPY? 3/ 'N.C.M.' re-mixed by PITCH SHIFTER 4/ 'TRIAD' re-mixed by GUNSHOT 5/ 'DIABLE' re-mixed by PITCH SHIFTER 6/ 'TRIAD' re-mixed by BIOHAZARD 7/ 'TO DIE IS GAIN re-mixed by PITCH SHIFTER For their mix THERAPY? originally used a sample of Nick Cave's voice from a BIRTHDAY PARTY song. Earache insisted on clearing the sample and so contacted Mr Cave and Co. Use of the sample was refused, even after a big credit on the sleeve notes *and* a substantial sum of money was offered. We heard all about this via a telephone call to us in a venue we were playing in Germany because we were in the middle of our recent European tour. Now....we don't understand people who refuse samples. For us it is a sign of respect to consider another persons work good enough to incorporate into your own, and further more it brings the work of the artist who is being sampled to the attention of a large number of people who would normally be listening to another kind of music. So we though "Fuck 'em" and during the soundcheck the next day Pitch Shifter's vocalist J.S.Clayden listened to a copy of the THERAPY? mix on a walkman and shouted the exact same words at the exact same places as the original sample version down the stage microphone into a DAT machine at the gig's mixing desk. This tape was then sent to our studio technician in Nottingham and was mixed over Mr Cave's voice. The re-mix is the same...its the same words...its the same idea except that now we don't have to credit anyone or pay them any cash, and someone somewhere is sat at home thinking "shit! we should have let them use the measley little sample and not been such narrow minded assholed." (heh heh heh) 'THE REMIX WAR' goes out on Earache Records on or around 24 January '95, Catalogue number MOSH 95. MERCI ----- Pitch Shifter would like to thank everyone who got off their arse and came to see us play at any of the gigs on our recent European tour. We played a few countries we've never made it to before and the reception was always cool so thanks a lot. The tour covered Holland, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, England and Scotland. We played 50 gigs in 2 months, fucked up every single piece of equipment we own, went through 2 tour buses and 2 support bands, stage-dived throughout and made a lot of new friends, so see y'all next time round!
